Doc Martin tells the tale of Martin Clunes' character in the film, in the months leading up to the Saving Grace story. Martin Bamford is a heart-broken London obstetrician, in a jealous rage after he finds out that his wife has been sleeping with three of his buddies. He escapes to a small Cornish fishing village, which he grows surprisingly attached to, and is extremely reluctant to return with his cheating wife when she comes to pick him up. Although he has only been looking for a week's R & R, Dr Bamford stumbles across a network of secrets in the village of Port Isaac, and finds himself embroiled in the most exciting scandal the village has seen for centuries.

After their tumultuous time last series, Louisa has gone for a break to visit her mother in Spain and to have some time to think, and get some perspective on their relationship. Martin is faced with the questions: will Louisa come back to him; and what can he do to make sure that she does? Martin knows that he needs to change for the sake of his marriage, and seeks out a therapist to try and effect this change. Aunt Ruth (Dame Eileen Atkins) manages to find him someone very well qualified, Dr Rachel Timoney (Emily Bevan). However, life in Portwenn transpires to get in Martin’s way, in the shape of Steve Baker (Daniel Ryan), and the lifeboat training exercise. Martin is not the only person inconvenienced. Steve and his assistant Barry (Joss Porter) are meant to be helping Al get his new Bed and Breakfast ready in time for his first guests arriving, but Steve is never there and half the walls still haven’t been plastered. Al (Joe Absolom) can’t even rely on his father or Morwenna (Jessica Ransom) for help, as Bert (Ian McNeice) is upset that Al hasn’t wanted his help in the past, and Morwenna has been roped into the lifeboat training exercise by her new flat-mate Janice (Robyn Addison). When Steve collapses at the wheel of the lifeboat, the mock rescue becomes a real-life rescue, and Martin and PC Penhale (John Marquez) race out to help Morwenna to save Steve’s life. But marooned at sea, Martin is going to have trouble getting back in time to speak to Louisa and is in danger of missing his first scheduled therapy session.

Martin Clunes returns to play the nation's favourite grumpy medic in a brand new series of Doc Martin for ITV. He stars as Dr Martin Ellingham, the GP with a brusque bedside manner and a phobia of blood, in eight new episodes of the successful drama produced by Buffalo Pictures, and set in the idyllic hamlet of Portwenn in Cornwall. Picturesque Port Isaac provides the beautiful backdrop for the popular series, with all regular members of the cast reprising their roles. Caroline Catz plays Doc Martin's wife, Louisa Ellingham, who has resigned from her job as headmistress at the local school to pursue a new career in child counselling. Returning to this ninth series, Dame Eileen Atkins plays Doc Martin's formidable Aunt Ruth. Ian McNeice is back to play Bert Large, with Joe Absolom as his son Al. John Marquez is PC Joe Penhale, Jessica Ransom is the doctor's receptionist Morwenna Newcross and Selina Cadell is pharmacist Mrs Tishell. They are joined by special guest stars Danny Huston, Conleth Hill, Caroline Quentin and Tom Conti. Danny plays Robert Brooke, a man who is shot by a farmer who thinks he is stealing eggs. Caroline returns to the series to star as vet Angela Sim, Conleth plays a GP who comes to assess Martin and Tom Conti plays Bernard Newton, an eminent surgeon who is also assessing the Doc.

被绑架退休外科医生（杨紫琼 饰）被迫为一位神秘病人做手术，她凭借35年的外科手术经验，据悉“以一种前所未有的视觉风格”智取并击倒了敌人。

Martin's fear of blood has not decreased and he almost gags when he has to remove a pencil from a schoolgirl's ear. For all this he is still interested in returning to surgery. Louisa has left town and a visit from ex-student colleague Edith, now a high flyer in private practice, helps sway him. However, when Joan's friend Barbara has an accident caused by Mrs. Tishell's husband Clive, who has gone deaf working on oil rigs, Edith wants to operate on her, but Martin overrules her, feeling, correctly, that Barbara can be treated at home. Edith comes to apologize and has not been in Martin's house for more than a few minutes when Louisa returns, extremely pregnant.

Martin drives Louisa and their baby son back to her house in Portwenn,where the locals bring them presents. Diana Dibbs, Martin's nervous replacement,has already arrived,with her husband Gavin as her receptionist but Martin is not impressed by her competence - especially as she seems to have numerous ailments herself. Then he learns that Joan has died,causing him to stay for a week for her funeral. During that time he finds himself having to see to all the patients that Diana has misdiagnosed in addition to saving her life when she collapses. It looks as if he is still Portwenn's doctor,whether he likes it or not.

Martin deals with the case of a young girl who has been acting out. When Louisa Glasson mentions Ritalin to the mother, Martin tries to point out that she is not qualified to give that kind of advice. A new police constable, Joe Penhale, arrives in Portwenn but seems to have a peculiar medical condition. Martin's aunt Joan has a car accident and Louisa faints while teaching a class. Pauline is bored with being a receptionist and desperately wants to give out medical advice so Martin has a proposal for her.
